What is a muhurat?
A muhurat is an auspicious time chosen for an important beginning — a wedding, a housewarming, buying a vehicle, or starting a venture. It is selected from the panchang by weighing the nakshatra (star), tithi (lunar day), weekday and yoga, while avoiding inauspicious periods such as Bhadra (Vishti karana), Amavasya and yogas like Vyatipata and Vaidhriti.
The dates on these pages are computed for India (IST, Hyderabad reference). A final muhurta for a wedding or housewarming also weighs the family's birth charts and is best confirmed with a priest — you can request that below.
