π About Amaravati Amareswara Swamy Temple
Amaravati Amareswara Swamy Temple, located in the historic town of Amaravati in Guntur district, is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras (five temples where pieces of the original Shiva Linga fell after the demon Tarakasura was defeated). The temple sits on the banks of the sacred River Krishna and has been a significant spiritual center for over 1800 years. According to legend, when Lord Shiva destroyed the demon Tarakasura, the Linga broke into five pieces, and one piece fell at Amaravati, establishing this sacred site. The temple is also historically significant as Amaravati was the capital of the Satavahana dynasty and later served as an important Buddhist center.
