Badrinath Temple, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites, being both a Char Dham and a Divya Desam. The temple is dedicated to Lord Badrinath (Vishnu) who is believed to meditate here eternally for the welfare of humanity. Situated at an altitude of 3,415 meters, the temple is accessible only for six months due to extreme weather. According to legend, Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri tree (jujube) to provide shade to the meditating Vishnu, hence the name Badrinath. The temple represents the highest spiritual achievement and liberation through meditation.
