The temple is renowned for its ancient sacred mango tree (Ekamra tree) that is believed to be over 3,500 years old and has four different varieties of mangoes growing on its four branches. The temple houses one of the largest Shiva lingams in India, created from earth by Goddess Parvati herself. The temple features one of the tallest gopurams in South India at 59 meters.
