About Sri Kudamudakoothan Perumal Temple , Thiru Arimeya Vinnagaram (Thirunangur)

Sri Kuda Maadu Koothan Perumal Temple in Thiru Arimeya Vinnagaram (Thirunangur, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu) is the 35th Divya Desam. It was praised by Thirumangai Alvar in 10 pasurams. The name Arimeya Vinnagaram signifies "the abode where all sins and karmas are obliterated without a trace by Lord Hari".

The presiding deity is named Kuda Maadu Koothan, commemorating the enchanting folkloric pot-dance (Kuda Koothu) performed by Lord Sri Krishna in the streets of Banasura's city, Shonitapura, to defeat the thousand-armed Asura king Bana and liberate His grandson Aniruddha. In this dance, Krishna juggled multiple pots upon His head, shoulders, and hands with cosmic grace while moving His feet to intoxicating rhythms, mesmerizing all three worlds.

Sage Uthanga, tormented by grief and seeking supreme detachment, performed severe penance at this sanctum. The Lord appeared before him in His majestic Iruntha Kolam seated upon the coils of Adisesha, granting him absolute tranquility of mind. Devotees praying here seek mastery in performing arts, freedom from grief, and the removal of past karmic sins.
