The temple is celebrated for five divine wonders (Pancha Aascharyangal) recorded in local tradition: 1. Oora Kinaru (the spring well whose water is miraculously never exhausted or overflown), 2. Urangaa Puli (the tamarind tree whose leaves never close at night, which sheltered Thirumangai Alvar while he hid the gold idol of Buddha he took from Nagapattinam to build Srirangam), 3.
