Sri Navamohana Krishna Perumal Temple in Thiruvaaipadi (canonically Gokul / Aayarpadi, located 15 km from Mathura along the sacred Yamuna river, Uttar Pradesh) is the 100th Divya Desam. Glorified in 22 pasurams by Periyalvar, Andal, and Thirumangai Alvar, it is the pastoral heartland of Lord Sri Krishna's childhood pastimes (Bala Leelas).
This is the sacred village of the cowherds (Aayarpadi) where Vasudeva carried the newborn infant Krishna across the flooded Yamuna in the dead of night to the house of Nanda Baba and Yashoda. It was here that baby Krishna stole butter from the hanging pots (Makhan Chor), subdued the witch Putana, liberated the Yamalarjuna trees, crawled on the soft white sands of Raman Reti, and was tied to the wooden grinding mortar by Mother Yashoda, earning the celestial name Damodara (one whose waist is bound by the cord of maternal love).
