Sri Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple in Thiruvedanthai, along the picturesque East Coast Road in Chengalpattu district near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is the 59th Divya Desam. It was glorified by Thirumangai Alvar in 13 divine pasurams in the Periya Thirumozhi.
The name Thiru-Idanthai translates to "the sacred left side" (Idathu Kai), commemorating the unique posture of Lord Aadhi Varaha, who stands holding His divine consort Goddess Komalavalli seated upon His left thigh (Edandhai). The sthala puranam narrates that Sage Kalava had 360 daughters and prayed to Lord Vishnu to accept them in marriage. Compassionately honoring the sage's prayer, Lord Vishnu visited the hermitage every single day for an entire year (360 days), marrying one daughter each day. On the 360th day, the Lord fused all 360 brides into a single divine form of Goddess Mahalakshmi, known as Komalavalli Thayar, and seated Her on His left side.
Because the Lord celebrates a wedding every single day of the year, He is hailed as Nithya Kalyana Perumal.
