About Sri Paramapurusha Perumal Temple , Thiruppirudhi (Joshimath, Uttarakhand)
Sri Paramapurusha Perumal Temple in Thiruppirudhi (celebrated as Jyotirmath / Joshimath, located at 6,150 feet in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand) is the 104th Divya Desam. Glorified in 10 divine pasurams by Thirumangai Alvar, it is one of the four cardinal monastic centers established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
This Himalayan shrine serves as the sacred winter seat of Lord Badrinath. When the Badrinath sanctum becomes completely inaccessible under heavy snow between November and April, the golden Utsava idol of Badri Narayana is carried down in a ceremonial procession and worshipped here in Joshimath with full daily rituals, ensuring unbroken worship of the Supreme Lord.
The presiding Moolavar is worshipped as Sri Paramapurusha / Narasimha Swamy, seated in self-manifested dark Shaligram stone in serene meditation. According to ancient Himalayan prophecy, the left arm of the Narasimha deity has been gradually growing thinner over centuries; when this divine arm completely breaks, the sacred twin mountains of Nara and Narayana will collide, sealing the path to Badrinath forever and inaugurating the future sacred sanctuary of Bhavishya Badri.
