Sri Vijayaasana Perumal Temple in Thiruvaragunamangai (locally called Natham, Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu) is the 73rd Divya Desam. Sung by Nammazhwar in his Thiruvaimozhi, it is the 2nd temple of the Nava Tirupathi, associated with Chandra (the Moon God).
The sthala is renowned for the divine victory of knowledge over ignorance. A devout young scholar named Vedavith spent his life chanting the sacred Ashtakshara Mantra and serving his parents with utmost reverence. When his parents passed away, Vedavith performed their final rites on the banks of the Thamirabarani and sought total liberation. Lord Vishnu appeared before him in a resplendent seated posture upon the throne of Adisesha as Vijayaasanan (the Lord on the Throne of Victory) and granted Vedavith instantaneous Moksha.
