About Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple , Thirukkadigai (Sholingur)
Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple in Thirukkadigai (popularly known as Sholingur in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu) is the 63rd Divya Desam. Sung by Peyalvar and Thirumangai Alvar in 4 pasurams, it is revered for the supreme spiritual power of time: a Kadigai is a traditional Vedic unit of time equal to approximately 24 minutes, and it is promised that sincere meditation on the Lord here for just one Kadigai bestows instantaneous spiritual liberation (Moksha).
The pilgrimage consists of two sacred granite hills: the Periya Malai (Big Hill), ascended via 1,305 stone steps, where Lord Narasimha sits in deep Yoga Asana with the Yogapatta, accompanied by Goddess Amrithavalli; and the Chinna Malai (Small Hill), reached via 406 steps, where Lord Hanuman sits in Yoga Anjaneya posture, uniquely sporting four arms holding the divine Shanka and Chakra of Vishnu alongside a japa mala.
According to legend, the Saptarishis performed penance here seeking to behold the Lord's Narasimha avatara without His terrifying anger. The Lord manifested as Yoga Narasimha, pacifying all fears. Thousands of devotees troubled by psychological ailments, evil spirits, black magic, and severe planetary doshas climb the hill and bathe in Brahma Theertham, receiving complete mental peace and spiritual restoration.
