π About Sringeri Sharada Peetham
Sringeri Sharada Peetham is one of the four cardinal Advaita Vedanta monasteries (peethas) established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century CE. Located on the banks of the Tunga River in Karnataka, this sacred institution is dedicated to Goddess Sharada, the deity of knowledge and learning. The peetham has been a continuous center of Vedantic learning for over 1200 years and is headed by an unbroken lineage of Shankaracharyas. The temple complex includes the ancient Sharada temple, Vidyashankara temple with its unique architectural features, and the modern Shankaracharya temple.
