Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, is the largest functioning Hindu temple complex in the world and holds the supreme position among the 108 Divya Desams. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a reclining form of Lord Vishnu lying on the cosmic serpent Adisesha. Located on an island formed by the rivers Kaveri and Kollidam, the temple spans 156 acres with seven concentric enclosures (prakarams). The temple is considered the "Bhuloka Vaikunta" - Vaikunta on Earth. The presiding deity faces south, which is unique among Vishnu temples, symbolizing his grace towards all beings. The temple has been praised by all 12 Alvars and is central to Sri Vaishnava tradition.
