Sri Dwarkadhish Temple (also hailed as Jagat Mandir) in Dwarka, on the westernmost tip of Gujarat where the Gomti river confluences with the Arabian Sea, is the 97th Divya Desam. Celebrated in 13 pasurams by Periyalvar, Andal, Thirumalisai Alvar, Nammazhwar, and Thirumangai Alvar, it is also one of the four supreme Char Dham pilgrimage sites of Sanatana Dharma.Dwarka is the golden maritime kingdom built by the divine architect Vishwakarma for Lord Sri Krishna after He relocated His clan from Mathura. The main temple, originally consecrated by Krishna's great-grandson King Vajranabha over Krishna's residential palace (Hari Graha), is a five-story architectural marvel supported by 72 exquisitely carved stone pillars rising to a height of 78 meters.A profound daily ritual is the hoisting of the Dhwaja (a magnificent 52-yard embroidered triangular flag bearing the sun and moon symbols) atop the temple spire, changed five times daily by dedicated climbers. The 52 yards represent the 52 administrative gateways of ancient Dwarka and the 52 yadava chieftains. Pilgrims visit to experience the royal grace of the King of Dwarka (Dwarkadhish), seeking freedom from planetary fears and attainment of worldly fulfillment and liberation.
