About Sri Srungara Vallabha Swamy Temple
The Sri Srungara Vallabha Swamy Temple is an ancient Vaishnavite shrine under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). While local tradition asserts the temple has existed for over 9,000 years, epigraphical evidence dates its construction to prior to the 12th century. The region was historically governed by prominent dynasties including the Satavahanas, Eastern Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, and the Reddi rulers, all of whom expanded and patronized the shrine. Architecturally, the temple showcases the Dravidian style. The structure features a grand Ranga Mandapa supported by eight intricately carved pillars and a Mukha Mandapa holding sixteen pillars that bear 13 historical inscriptions detailing royal land donations. In 1956, the temple management was officially taken over by the Endowments Department of Andhra Pradesh to preserve its deep structural and cultural legacy.
