π About Jambukeswarar Temple
Jambukeswarar Temple, also known as Thiruvanaikaval Temple, located in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, is one of the five Pancha Bhoota Stalams representing the Appu (Water) element. The temple is famous for its underground natural spring that continuously supplies water to the sanctum, making the lingam partially submerged in water throughout the year. The temple gets its name from Jambu (rose apple tree) and the legend of the white elephant Airavata who worshipped Shiva here. The temple is unique as it houses both male and female forms of Shiva, with Akilandeswari as the presiding goddess who is considered more powerful than the male deity.
