About Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Chandragiri
Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple Located just a short distance from the legendary Chandragiri Fort, the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple is a profound architectural gem steeped in history. Originally constructed during the 10th century by Chola kings, it was vastly expanded in the 16th century by the Vijayanagara Emperor Sri Krishna Devarayalu. The ancient rock walls of its outer mandapams proudly bear the signature royal seals (Raja Mudrikas) of the Vijayanagara dynasty. Recognizing its historic grandeur and spiritual importance, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officially took over the administrative control of this temple. Today, it stands as a beautifully preserved spiritual center, offering pilgrims a unique blend of heritage sightseeing and deep Vaishnava devotion on par with other legendary Rama temples in the region.
