The Sri Durga Nageswara Swamy Temple carries immense historical and architectural layered history, dating back to its first recorded construction in 1292 AD by the Kakatiya Rajaguru Somashivacharya. It underwent subsequent renovations in 1782 by the Challapalli Raja and the 13th Zamindar, Sri Yarlagadda Kodanda Ramanna, followed by the addition of its prominent Rajagopuram in 1795 by the 15th Zamindar, Sri Yarlagadda Nageswara Rao Naidu. The modern structure was built in 1982 under the guidance of Sri Somasivacharyulu from the Pushpagiri Peetam. The temple features unique Buddhist links from its past as "Kadalipalli," anchored by the "Satyasthambham"—a marble pillar bearing indistinct Brahmi script and Buddhist symbols that pilgrims must traditionally visit before entering the main sanctum. Rituals are strictly performed according to the sacred Vaideka Agama principles.
