About Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Tirumala
Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple stands at Tirumala, right opposite the Bangaru Vakili (golden entrance) of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, and is maintained by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The deity is worshipped as Bedi Anjaneya — Hanuman with his hands tied or bound (bedi meaning chains). Tradition explains that the young, restless Hanuman, believed by some to be the son of Lord Venkateswara's devotee tradition at Tirumala, had his hands bound by his mother Anjana Devi to keep him from mischief; another tradition connects the bound hands to his eternal, devoted service. Pilgrims visiting Tirumala customarily offer prayers here as part of their darshan.
