Karkadeswarar Temple (Ayilyam Star) ✓

This is the dedicated star temple for the Ayilyam nakshatra (Sanskrit Ashlesha), ruled by Mercury (Budhan). People born under Ayilyam traditionally worship here as their parihara (remedy) sthalam.

The presiding deity is Lord Karkadeswarar (Shiva). Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Karkadeswarar, a name drawn from the legend of a crab (karkata) that once worshipped the Lord at this spot. The Goddess worshipped here is Parvati.
